hey hey hey

legit super quick update here just to say that i’m alive and so that i can feel like i’ve actually accomplished something on here somewhat recently and it doesn’t add to the “i’m a failure” pile

alright, that’s a little disingenuous of me. i have been kind of busy. here’s a short list of major life accomplishments in the past little while:

• finished school finally
• got a new job
• bought a house

that’s about it, but maybe you can see why it’s been tough to keep up on certain passion projects like this lovely website. believe it or not, white-knuckling through especially those first two has been a struggle! most days i didn’t feel like touching my computer at all because doing anything but schoolwork made me feel guilty. other days my brain was so drained all i wanted to do was sit on the couch and doomscroll.

i also had a few grand plans for big, super cool essays and multi-part posts that i eventually gave up on because they weren’t coming together how i had hoped and then just kind of felt unimportant any more. we’ve had our ups and downs. it’s been a little tricky.

but! this post isn’t for getting sappy and sad like most of my other ones! this is just a quick, short, tidy, exceedingly brief, and pithy update! no flowery language or poetic waxing! and so, with that in mind, i think i’ll wrap things up here for now. it does feel good to get an update out.

oh, one more thing, i’ve been very excited since our offer on the house was accepted to start up a nestcam and home BirdNET instance. ideally i would like to be able to access the streams for those from anywhere, which means it’ll probably end up proxied through this domain. it’s gonna take some working to get it all put together, but i’m starting to make some progress. i’ll definitely, for sure, put out another update if that gets up and running. no promises, but a distinct possibility.
